Baker National Qualifier

This past weekend, DCD and Seaholm sailors represented CSS at the National Team Race Qualifier held at GPYC.

On a consistent but puffy Saturday, our CSS teams were challenged by the 8 other top team racing programs in the Midwest. Over the course of a 10-hour race day, they competed in 12 different 3v3 races.

Seaholm, sailing short one sailor, was forced to race 2v3 in every match — a significant disadvantage, as their “missing” boat automatically placed 6th each race. Despite this uphill battle, Seaholm fought hard, continually learned and improved, and impressively won 4 of their matches. Their determination caught the attention of both the race committee and the umpires, who commended the team for their effort, resilience, and spirit while being shorthanded.

DCD also had a great day of learning and developing, trying out new skipper and crew combinations. A special shoutout to Krish for competing in his first major regatta as a full-time skipper! DCD steadily improved throughout the event, fought through several close races, and earned a win in one of the final matches of the day.

We are incredibly proud of both teams — not only for qualifying for such a high-level event but for showcasing true teamwork, tenacity, and resilience during an extremely tough day of racing.
