The Community Sailing School (CSS) is Michigan’s first and only US Sailing Accredited Sailing School, a prestigious designation achieved by only 45 programs nationwide. The rigorous accreditation process ensures the highest standards in sailing education, making this accomplishment both rare and significant.

CSS has demonstrated exceptional continued success in competitive sailing since 2011, earning national recognition. In 2024, CSS teams excelled at the Allstate Sugar Bowl Great Oaks National Invitational, University of Detroit Jesuit secured the runner-up position in the Gold Fleet and Detroit Country Day School claimed the title of National Champions in the Silver Fleet, further solidifying their reputation for excellence in sailing.

At CSS, sailing is more than just a sport—it’s a powerful platform for personal growth. Our programs are designed to build character through sailing education, offering opportunities for leadership development, teamwork, and lifelong skill building.

Students learn to navigate both the water and life’s challenges, developing confidence, resilience, and decision-making abilities.

Beyond the skills gained on the water, CSS fosters a vibrant community where friendships are forged, and collaboration is key. Whether competing on a national stage or enjoying a day on the lake, participants gain experiences that shape them into capable leaders and supportive teammates.
