CSS Sailors Gain Experience in the Toughest Fleet of High School Sailing
In the sport of high school sailing, some of the toughest competitors take on the challenge of the singlehanded Olympic-class Laser (ILCA) — a 14-foot boat with a single sail and more power than any other boat in our fleet.
This year, three CSS sailors stepped up to race in the 2025 Michigan State Championships in Traverse City: Levi (Berkley), Ashwin (DCD), and Ryan (BPS).
Throughout the weekend, sailors faced a wide range of conditions — from light, tactical breeze to gusts reaching 20 mph. Despite the challenges, all three CSS sailors showed marked improvement and demonstrated the skill and grit that define our program.
Final results:
- Ryan (BPS) – 4th Overall
- Ashwin (DCD) – 9th Overall
- Levi (Berkley) – 10th Overall
We’re incredibly proud of these sailors and their commitment to mastering one of the most demanding boats in the sport.
