Mallory National Qualifier
This past weekend, four of our Community Sailing School teams Marian, Seaholm, Troy, and University of Detroit Mercy traveled to Chicago to compete in the prestigious Mallory Midwest Championship, where the top 20 teams from a field of 115 in the Midwest came together.
True to its name, the Windy City delivered powerful conditions. Saturday saw gusts up to 30 mph with temperatures in the low 50s. Sunday brought even cooler air and winds peaking at 25 mph. In the face of this challenge, our sailors showed outstanding resilience, teamwork, and focus.
A special recognition goes to our senior sailors Charlie, Graham, Lucia, Maverick, Nicole, and Sean for whom this event was one of their final high school regattas. We are incredibly proud of their growth and leadership, and we look forward to seeing them thrive as they transition into the world of collegiate sailing.
Congratulations to UDM for placing 12th, Seaholm 15th, Marian 19th, and Troy 20th. Each team represented CSS with strength and spirit, continuing to develop character through sailing education.
